This proposed legislation represents another spurious attempt to interfere in municipal government from a provincial government which has already subverted approximately 180 years of municipal government in Ontario due to vested interests, an approach which has placed this government under investigation for running roughshod over development guidelines to satisfy said vested interests.
As well, the Premier and Minister of Transportation's rhetoric opposing bicycle lanes and other active transport infrastructure disregards extensive research demonstrating the benefits for all road users, instead leaning upon failed culture wars stoked by former political cronies as part of an obsession with gridlock which is ham fistedly used to justify various questionable decisions aimed at appeasing current political cronies.
