How will the governing bodies ensure that this will not damage nearby established businesses, and potential economic development in the area surrounding the proposed sites? It is well known that despite best efforts at other similar plants that the scent in the surrounding environment can be disturbing and disgusting. This is not an unpopulated area, and it will damage Adelaide Metcalfe's chances for future development.
Furthermore, this is in the Carolinian Zone, or the Lake Erie Lowlands Ecoregion. It is one of the most biodiverse areas in Canada, with multiple species at threat because of reckless practices in the past. Even with every security measure in place, why take the risk of storing so much material that, if mishandled, would cause an environmental disaster with the levels of nitrogen and pharmaceuticals held within so much human waste? Is that what we want to be remembered for?
