The proposed site is less than 1km uphill from the Sydenham river.
There is no possible way that all runoff from this storage facility can be contained.
The company proposing the site has a terrible track record in regards to environmental policy and procedure and has been asked to leave at least 2 other townships. This company will do the bare minimum in regards to keeping the environment and the surrounding community’s safety a priority. It will cut corners and cost in the name of profit first and foremost. Our township is not equipped to handle or supervise a storage facility of this size.
The fact is this stuff has to be stored somewhere but within a kilometre of a river is one of the stupidest proposals by far.
If this site is allowed this environmental area will be destroyed .
