We need some form of carbon pricing if we want to prevent future environmental damages from climate change. Carbon pricing is the only way to effectively reduce our emissions.
There’s taxes and there’s cap and trade. It’s in the science that cap and trade is a better method because it provides a market-based incentive to innovate and reduce emissions.
Perhaps there are areas that need to be addressed within the existing cap and trade system, but scrapping the whole thing is irresponsible. It tells me you don’t care about the environment. You don’t care about ensuring that our kids have a safe future.
Don’t do short term politics. Stop trying to polarize society by catering to extreme views. Educate the people. Stand up for our future, even if it makes some people unhappy in the short term.
