Adding new highways is not the answer to reducing gridlock, investments in sustainable mass transit is the approach. Furthermore, risking irreparably damaging our environment by exempting this project from the environmental assessment act endangers the lives both people and wildlife. The environmental assessment act was made for a reason and it is to ensure projects like highway 413 do not harm our environment. In principle, it makes no sense to exempt projects from acts designed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Canadians.
