I am concerned about the repeal of the Green Energy Act for a number of reasons. First, mandatory energy labeling for homes being resold on the market will allows the public to know what to expect in terms of energy consumption and rewards homeowners who have upgraded their homes and reduces emissions from buildings. Secondly public agencies should consider energy conservation in order to save money. Third without a Renewable Energy Facilitator opportunities for renewable energy might be missed. Fourth municipalities might not have technical expertise in energy procurement and rejection of projects could be based on opinion without supporting evidence. Fifth I am concerned that clothes lines could be banned by municipal governments or developers hopefully, the ban on clothesline bans remains in place. I am happy to see that some conservation measures will be protected. Finally, I am worried about the future investment in Ontario should contracts be cancelled and contract holders are unable to go to court.
