The current proposed site plan is NOT sufficient to deal with the concerns of area residents.
If the storage facility were fully enclosed, that would help to mitigate our concerns by fully containing the biosolids as well as maintaining humidity controls which would then reduce dust, odour and the risk of spontaneous combustion.
Some Items for Consideration:
-A primary consideration may be to minimize the volume of potential storm water runoff.
Solution to reduce the volume of runoff would be to have a fully enclosed facility with full walls and a permanent roof, including for the loading and unloading areas.
- Extreme weather events are becoming more common.
• On August 23, 2023, the property for the proposed site received 6 inches of rain in less than 3 hours.
Fields were flooded.
. Roads were flooded. Rivers were flooded. The natural runoff for this property is
straight downhill into the Sydenham River.
• A structure with full walls and permanent roof would be better able to handle these types of weather events. The storm water runoff would be a significantly lower volume to deal with if the biosolids were completely contained.
