Integrating other modes of transport like bike lanes and not expanding car lanes has been studied Bike lanes over expanded car lanes offer numerous benefits, including:

1. **Safety**: Designated bike lanes separate cyclists from motor vehicles, reducing the likelihood of accidents and injuries.

2. **Environmental Impact**: Encouraging cycling helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, contributing to a healthier environment.

3. **Traffic Congestion**: More bike lanes can alleviate road congestion by providing an alternative mode of transportation, leading to fewer cars on the road.

4. **Health Benefits**: Cycling promotes physical activity, improving public health outcomes by encouraging people to stay active.

5. **Cost-Effectiveness**: Building and maintaining bike lanes typically costs less than expanding car lanes, making it a more economical choice for infrastructure.

6. **Community Cohesion**: Bike lanes can enhance community interaction as they promote local travel and can include spaces for social activities.

7. **Land Use Efficiency**: Bikes require less space than cars, allowing urban areas to be used more effectively, preserving green spaces and encouraging mixed-use development.

8. **Encouragement of Active Transportation**: More bike lanes encourage people to choose cycling, leading to a more active lifestyle and reduced dependency on cars.

By prioritizing bike lanes, cities can create a more sustainable, safe, and healthy environment for everyone. explained to the point of being blue in the face.

Removing bike lanes is a step in the wrong direction. The Doug Ford government is ignoring the fact that alternate modes of transportation alleviate traffic and doesn’t add to it. Make it easier for people to choose public transit or bikes and inevitably you will have less traffic on the roads. Remove these options/make it harder to add more will only increase traffic constraints.

Doug’s ignorance is showing and it is not a good look.
