We should not restrict renewable energy projects on the basis of this government proposal. Businesses make their own decisions based on economics and we have to let the market decide. We also have to respect any existing contracts so as to be a safe place to do business. Renewable energy projects must be supported given an incumbent fossil fuel energy industry that has become politically powerful but that is not economically or environmentally viable. We have to move forward and switch the basis of our energy systems so they are cleaner and safer that are also technologically in line with the rest of the developed world. We will fall behind if we live in the past through the kind of policy that this government is proposing and do not support new technology industries.
