If the White Sands project was to have been terminated, it should have proceeded to have done so BEFORE any turbines were installed. From what has been researched so far, the government had already given the go ahead to proceed as far as the project has proceeded, with a permit approved to tie into the Ontario electrical grid. Now the new government wants to shut down the project completely, which is already built, and run the risk of being sued for who knows how much, by its owner??
This reminds me of that debacled natural gas generation station in Oakville. This new government basically reminded Ontario folks over and over of that failure, during their election tour, and now wants to run the risk of Ontario folks having to pay for another generation station fiasco, via having to pay out a lawsuit, because it wants it cancelled?
What exactly is this project guilty of, now, that it was not guilty of with the previous government?? Seems to me the Ministry of the Environment already approved the station, otherwise it would not have allowed it to be built.
