Closing the White Pines Wind Project is just one of several recent regressive environmental moves by the Conservative government. It seems that the government wants to reverse every advance in environmental protection made by previous governments and take Ontario back to the bad old days when governments gave no thought at all to taking care of the environment and allowing companies to pollute at will with no concern about the impacts of human and environmental health.
If I don't very soon hear anything to the contrary, I will fully expect that the Conservative government will soon begin weakening environmental regulations and will in fact end up not having any plans, at all to reduce Ontario's greenhouse gas emissions, protect endangered species, biodiversity, water and air quality etc. etc.
The Conservative government must explain to the people of Ontario the exact reasoning behind every decision it makes around environmental protection. It can't just do things with no explanation at all while at the same time costing Ontario taxpayers millions of dollars while claiming to save money. It's dishonest and the worst kind of knee-jerk, ideologically-driven, decision making. It is, in fact, the epitome of decision-based fact making.
