Having a cottage in the Haliburton region, I have personally witnessed the cormorant population rise on the lake over the last few years. I would encourage opening up a hunting season on these birds before they do more devastation to the area like many other areas. It seems to me that if they are considered somewhat of a pest bird there should be no limit on hunting them and a long season to keep their numbers from continuing to grow.
Thanks for your consideration.
