I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed construction of a sewer overflow at Ontario Place. As a concerned resident of Ontario, I believe this project poses significant environmental, social, and economic risks that outweigh any potential benefits.

Ontario Place is a cherished public space that holds historical, cultural, and recreational value for the community. The construction of a sewer overflow in this area would not only disrupt the natural beauty and tranquility of the site but also threaten the health of Lake Ontario and its surrounding ecosystems. The potential for increased pollution and contamination is a grave concern, as it could have long-lasting detrimental effects on the water quality and marine life.

Furthermore, the proposed project could negatively impact the local economy by deterring tourism and reducing the appeal of Ontario Place as a destination for both residents and visitors. The area is a vital part of our community's identity and heritage, and its preservation should be a priority. Considering the government is interested in building a world-class spa and investing hundreds of millions of dollars into the area, this seems counter to that goal.

I urge you to reconsider this proposal and explore alternative solutions that do not compromise the integrity of Ontario Place. There are other methods to address sewer overflow issues that do not involve sacrificing such a valuable public asset. Investing in green infrastructure, such as permeable pavements, rain gardens, and enhanced wastewater treatment facilities, can provide sustainable and effective solutions without harming our environment and community spaces.

Thank you for considering my concerns. I hope that you will take the necessary steps to protect Ontario Place and ensure that it remains a vibrant and accessible space for future generations.

Sincerely,
