I am in favour of original environmental plans and guidelines. I don’t think changing an established and transparent process and replacing it with something vague, rushed and inconvenient is what anyone who uses or visits our waterfront wants. Any sewage diversion that increases risk for people or pets should be well thought out. Negative impacts won’t just be felt by local businesses and community members during diversion. The irregularity and poor communication by the government around the Ontario Place redevelopment almost guarantees a lingering negative effect as well as a reputational loss for Sunnyside Beach and the communities that go there from around the GTA. What a loss for Toronto. How unfortunately cynical that our Premier has forced this situation without care, cause or concern for those of us who live here.
