I would like to oppose the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). If passed, it would result in raw sewage being discharged into Lake Ontario, which is quite unacceptable. It would be extremely detrimental to human health, marine life and wildlife, and the quality of the lake water would be adversely affected for many years. The Ford government has not held any consultations about this work with the general public. It is in a rush to push through the development of the Therme Mega Spa and have accelerated the timeline by a year. This proposal would only benefit those profiting from the development of the Spa, which will never be used by the majority of the people of Toronto.
Once again, millions of taxpayer dollars are being wasted to prioritize a private company over the wellbeing of the public and the environment.
This proposal to benefit private sector initiatives is not in the public interest and threatens the stability of the lake ecosystem in a time of severe biodiversity loss. Please deny this permit.
