Habitat for Humanity GTA supports of the issuance of a Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO) for The Inclusive development located at 1635 Lawrence Avenue West in Toronto. The proposed development will create create much needed affordable homes and community support services for families, individuals and couples.
Sherry Larjani and her team at Spotlight Developments, have brought a rare level of determination to flip the traditional for-profit developer approach on its end. Rather than asking, “how do we maximize return on investment in this development?”, Sherry and her team have asked “how can we maximize affordable housing?”
To this end, Sherry has gone above and beyond in creating a coalition of non-profit partners. They have undertaken countless economic assessments of how to achieve the goal of maximum affordable housing while delivering an economically viable project.
The MZO is an important piece of the puzzle. It will substantially reduce the time required to develop the site, thus reducing overall project costs and enabling affordable housing to be maximized.
For a variety of reasons, Habitat for Humanity has elected to be one of the smaller partners in the non-profit coalition Sherry and her team have brought together; however, we are a big cheerleader of the vision for The Inclusive.
We urge you to lend your support through the provision of an MZO bringing this vision one step closer to reality for families who so urgently need the kind of solutions The Inclusive can offer.
