In a time when politics seems to be our greatest enemy , the Ontario government is reinforcing this feeling. Dresden is a small town with a lot of heart. In the surrounding area we have some of the most valuable land for agriculture in Ontario. You can drive through areas not far north of here that have no development or are not suitable for development. All of these regions are closer to Toronto. It doesn't make sense that land that could be used to feed our nation is now going to house garbage instead. This location is also central to an expansive water system that extends to the Great Lakes. We cannot afford to damage this natural resource which supports the livelihood of multiple communities in its travels.
Fishing is an extensive draw in this area that has some of the best sport fishing anywhere. This could be in jeopardy if the province continues to lower the standards that have been in place for several years. Corporate greed that has long been rumoured to be central to the Conservative government is seeming to win out under the reason that tariffs have caused a shift in their stand????? Putting a dump in a rural community, close to schools, and the main business community is not going to mitigate the effect of tariffs on Ontario. The need to mine our natural resources does not include taking the garbage from one community and depositing in another. Hope there are still some reasonable people left in the Ontario Legislature that think with their brains and not the pocketbooks of corporations.
