This proposal will destroy Ontario’s already threatened and dwindling biodiversity - the endangered species act is in place to protect the numerous species that are at risk in Ontario, and this proposal will undoubtedly extirpate populations that are already impacted by anthropogenic change to their landscape. This proposal is irresponsible and frankly disgusting, as someone who works in ecology in Ontario I’m disturbed to see the economic goals of this province placed ahead of our environment. There are ways to support infrastructure development without throwing away the checks and balances needed to ensure that development happens in an ecologically sound way. This is incredibly disappointing and we will not be quiet about this - you all should be ashamed.
