History does a lot to teach us about removing protections for those who cannot defend themselves. We've seen in recent years, how short sighted plans for rapid development, that skirt protections like these, lead to endangered animals becoming extinct and landscapes becoming destabilized because developers do not care about 100 years from now. They care about what money they'll make in the next 5 minutes. We've seen the DVP flood due to poor drainage and not enough trees to drain the water properly, transit falling apart without update, and houses built in the last ten years needing to be gutted because it needs to be done "fast" and not properly.

Good things take time and if we want things done right it takes care and consideration. I for one want to live in a world better than I left it, thinking ahead for a community I will not be a part of in 100 or 200 years or more but will benefit from us taking a moment to think about the risks.

Do we really want to teach our kids about Polar Bears and native birds as if they're dinosaurs and we're the meteor that destroyed without conscience?

This proposal makes mention of new policies and guidelines it will have to adhere to and then mentions these guidelines aren't even written? It sounds like those who wrote this proposal plan to make up the rules as they go along to best suit their needs. Being Canadian means respecting nature, not when it's gone, but here and now.

Let's stop treating infrastructure and this proposals idea of protecting our most endangered animals like the newest Tik Tok trend, fleeting and hollow, and actually be present and responsible like the adults we claim to be.

Thank you.
