The absolute last thing that should be done right now is this, how is this a priority for the Ford government? Please leave nature alone. I have seen what was done with clear cutting Ontario place. Awful. We need nature the most right now.
Gutting environmental assessment processes is egregious.
Fast-tracking mining and infrastructure development — including in ecologically sensitive and contested areas like the Ring of Fire — without proper consultation or consent from Indigenous communities. This is totally against what was in the truth & reconciliation commission recommendations. This is NOT acceptable.
Adopt a “register-first, ask-questions-later” model for species-at-risk permits, allowing developers to proceed before environmental implications are fully known. We have seen what this did at Ontario Place. This is absolutely irresponsible. The Government is supposed to protect this province not poison it with cutting corners.
The idea of establishing “special economic zones” where Cabinet can exempt areas and companies from applicable laws – a move that raises serious concerns around transparency, accountability, and environmental stewardship. More heavy handedness from Ford without proper insights or oversight.
This is absolutely irresponsible.
