We are facing a global biodiversity crisis. In Ontario alone, more than 230 plant and animal species are currently at risk. These species depend on the province’s healthy forests, wetlands, and waters; ecosystems that also sustain the well-being of all Ontarians.
I urge your government to:
Cancel Bill 5 and abandon any plans to dismantle the Endangered Species Act or introduce “regulation-free zones” for resource extraction.
And commit to strengthening, not weakening, the Endangered Species Act.
Now is the time to protect biodiversity, uphold Indigenous rights, and ensure that local communities continue to benefit from the vital ecosystem services that nature provides.
