(Bill 5) I am denouncing the repeal of the Endangered Species Act. Please do not allow this legislation to pass. What has taken several lifetimes to put in place cannot simply be wiped out entirely to afford the government quick access to its procurement and development projects. The Endangered Species Act is a protection to our own livelihood and the environment we will have to live in. We don't want housing and neighbourhoods at the cost of endangering the environment and protected or unprotected species. What kind of neighbourhood is that to live in and who would want to live there
Good things take time.

The legislation being proposed is due to the amount of time it takes to pass an environmental assessment for a proposed project. Time is the real issue. An administrative "delay" issue which is prevalent throughout our Ontario government. Instead of fixing the real issue at hand, the solution proposed is to entirely obliterate the Endangered Species Act, and totally un-do what took generations to accomplish. It's like saying stop signs and traffic lights take us too long to get through traffic, so lets just get rid of them. Furthermore this legislation is not localised to any specific region and will have wide sweeping effects all across Ontario, both urban and rural, and more importantly to our northern "wild environments". The Ontario government should at least have to PROVE that the Endangered Species Act is in fact the reason of procurement delays before it gets to upend the legislation altogether.

If the Endangered Species Act is abolished, then endangered species will be obliterated, which in turn has a direct hit on our very own living environment as we are all connected.

The Government should be accountable to its people and its environment. This legislation allows the government too much power for quick development and with no accountability. It doesn't allow the Ontario people to have any impact against any development that may be environmentally threatening.

Please consider a province where we will want to live in and cherish for our grandchildren's children. Please do not repeal the Endangered Species Act.
