The proposed increase to 6,000 tonnes per day poses serious concerns for our roads, infrastructure, and the overall health of our community. This volume of material will significantly increase heavy truck traffic, leading to faster deterioration of local roads, higher maintenance costs, and greater risks of traffic accidents. Increased diesel emissions from these trucks will also degrade air quality, directly impacting the respiratory health of residents....especially children, seniors, and those with pre-existing conditions. Our community infrastructure was not built to sustain this level of industrial traffic, and without a comprehensive environmental assessment, we risk compromising both public safety and long-term livability.
