The purpose of doing environmental studies before opening a landfill site are there for a reason. If the Ontario government overrides this decision, then they are essentially saying “they can do what they want, when they want and taxpayers just have to take it.” This is a business that is going to have short and long term effects, it needs to be done properly. Basically the Ontario government’s message is taxpayers have no say. This is wrong on so many levels! Follow the rules, do the studies, look at the location and the impact not just just to the immediate area but the surrounding area. Once again, an example of the people be damned!
