Please do not change any laws or bylaws allowing a dump to be created in the town of Dresden. An environmental assessment is needed before anything further proceeds. The town of Dresden is a very small town with less than 2,000 residents which cannot support the daily wear and tear of hundreds of heavy trucks going down the town streets to a dump that is literally a few kilometres outside of the town as well as only a few kilometres from the Sydenham River which will be in jeopardy from toxic waste that will escape the dump.
This is a small town with little industry and cannot afford the upkeep of the streets which will be ruined by heavy truck traffic.
Property values will decrease which is not fair to the town people nor to the nearest neighbours.
The toxic smell of methane gas being released will expand over the town on a weekly basis - the town already deals with the waste water smells from the tomato plant. This will further impact the residents of this community.
If Toronto and the province need a new dump - find somewhere with no inhabitants with virtually no environmental damage to local people, land and rivers.
This town deserves the right to object to the creation of this environmental hazard especially when the garbage that will be put into this dump mainly comes Toronto and further away, and not even from this town. People will say the dump has to go somewhere but find a better place to handle this toxic waste and methane gasses.
Dump the Dump!
