Bill 5 gives Premier Ford and his cabinet the right to hand out exemptions to
1) any person or company they choose ("trusted proponent" remaining undefined);
2) any portion of Ontario they choose from a single house or cottage to the GTA;
3) any project they choose NOT JUST THOSE of significance to US tariffs/trade barriors;
4) ANY PROVINCIAL OR MUNICIPAL LAW. All rights of all Ontarians are now riding on a determination by Doug Ford and his cabinet.
In trying to avoid the lawlessness of the US, you are paradoxically adopting the same concept: Allow those in the "executive branch" to ignore all the laws if it forwards their goals. btw, would those essential guardrails ever be restored [didn't happen in the US after 911]??
I suggest NO ONE should have the capacity to ignore laws and allow industries, especially mining, to move forward without any respect to rules or the environment or the communities affected.
The earliest these mines could open is approximately 2030. Why the rush that requires suspension of laws and environmental checks??
