I strongly oppose the removal of the Environmental assessment which had been promised for the proposed landfill at 29831 Irish School Rd, Dresden On. Our local MPP Steve Pinsonnault, Premier Ford and Minister of the Environment promised an Environmental assessment and were elected on this promise. We trusted that they would follow thru with their word. An Environmental assessment is crucial ! The location proposes threats to health, water, safety and to endangered species. WE need to have an assessment to examine all the threats. It can help to determine the best options and location for a landfill. This is not the best location !! Alternative solutions would be investigated in a EA!
I live within a km of the site and fear for the pollutants which will be in the air ,soil and water depriving me of the right to a healthy environment. As a senior citizen i am also concerned with air quality with construction waste being trucks , 700 trucks per day, to the site which can contain asbestos which cause lung and breathing issues. I already use a puffer for health issues.
The leaching of waste into the surrounding waterways will be disastrous for any of the endangered species in the Sydenham river. We enjoy fishing in the Sydenham river with our grandchildren and the physical and mental health benefits which comes with a clean environment. I am concerned with the risks to the youth of our town, with the children attending two schools in close proximity.

Removing environmental assessments for this landfill will open the door to reviving other dormant landfills in the province. They were closed for a reason and they need to be examined for risks to health and environment. What are the long term effects this proposed Dresden landfill will have on all species, human, water and wildlife. . Short term solution for our garbage problem is not the answer. Don't bury that problem in a landfill. Invest in creating solutions which aren't going to create other problems for our community. . Our health and safety should come first.
