I’m writing to you not as an expert—but as a mother. I grew up in Dresden, went to school there, and still have family living in town. It’s always been my dream to raise my daughter in the same quiet, respectful farming town that shaped me.

But now, I’m scared.

My daughter has serious health challenges. Her immune system is severely compromised. Something as small as a common cold can spiral into something much worse. We have to be incredibly cautious about her environment—every exposure, every contaminant—because her body simply can’t handle what most others can.

And now, the future home I’ve dreamed of for her is being threatened.

A landfill and waste processing facility is being proposed in Dresden—not to handle our own local waste, but to manage garbage from the GTA. This facility will involve concrete crushing and soil washing, with no clearly presented or safe plan for how the resulting wastewater will be disposed of.

What will that wastewater contain? Where will it go? What impact will it have on the soil, water, and air in the very place I hope to raise my daughter?

Dresden already has a landfill and responsibly manages its own waste. Why should we be forced to bear the environmental and health risks of another region’s garbage?

There has been no full Environmental Assessment. No thorough investigation into how this project could affect the health of our families, farmland, and future. That is not only irresponsible—it’s dangerous.

I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m asking for fairness. For accountability. For protection. For the chance to raise my daughter in a community that values health, safety, and respect for the land.

Please—don’t let Dresden become a dumping ground. Demand a full Environmental Assessment before anything moves forward. The people of this town, and the children who will grow up here, deserve that much.
