Hi I am a field archaeologist. I’ve worked in the industry for the past 2 years and although I don’t have much experience with archaeology I know that what bill 5 is proposing is incredibly short sighted and wrong. If the goal of bill 5 is to remove red tape and make development go faster and boost the economy then all this bill is going to do is put people out of work and you’ll have a whole other problem on your hands. While I agree that development moves painfully slow and it needs to go faster there is a much better way of doing it. Rather than putting people out of work by deregulating archaeology I’d highly suggest you look into overhauling the ministry of archaeology, they are the ones responsible for how long it takes for work to be completed. Their nonsense delays projects for weeks and even months because half the time they can’t be bothered to read reports or do their jobs properly. If you want to speed up archaeological surveys start there and not by putting people out of work
