I am writing to voice my opposition to the proposed changes to the endangered species act. The importance of this act, the reason it was brought forward, was to ensure ecosystems were not destroyed for the sack of vanity projects.
By removing this critical ‘check’ and eliminating ‘balances’ the Government will remove key safeguards protecting our environment and ultimately the health of those who live in our Province.
It is obvious the direction being taken by the Government, with this amendment is not to assist in making a difference to those of us who live in Ontario. But to assist corporations who have little to no commitment to the Ontario taxpayer.
The changes will not bring prosperity to our communities, improve our Province’s Finances or make environmental sense. It will in the long run, destroy the our natural resources, cause issues to the communities involved, and leave Ontario in poorer shape than it is at present.
