The world is literally on fire, and our provincial response is to "loosen up" environmental requirements like this, is a gross oversight. This dump is incredibly close to town, and waterways, which makes the potential environmental impact overwhelmingly significant. This isn't a dump in the "middle of nowhere" which I'm sure all the Torontonians sitting around the legislature think... it's in prime agricultural land, and a stones throw from a thriving community. There needs to be a thorough assessment done that evaluates if this is the best option, and to determine potential water, air, and noise pollution. Traffic assessments need to be done. We have water wells for homeowners all around the area this proposed dump is suppose to be - how do we ensure these people are protected without a PROPER ASSESSMENT? The governments job is to work for the people, to protect and do what is right FOR THE PEOPLE. Trying to by-pass red tape is putting the environment, animals, habitats and PEOPLE at risk. This is so incredibly disheartening that this would even be allowed.... the fact that this is "zoned" as a dump now is truly a clerical error of some sort, because it hasn't functioned in that way. The people of Dresden deserve better! Do the assessment to prove "it's safe".
