The people who live in municipalities are most closer acquainted with the issues; they vote accordingly, and are represented by their council members and mayors, and should follow those rules that govern them. This amendment is so blatantly in the self-interest of the current administration that it would be laughable if it wasn't so dystopic and scary.
If a similar law came into effect where federal intervention came into provincial jurisdiction, surely the Ford government would cry out as overreaching. Why should it be any different in these cases? This is plain and simple an erosion of democracy, in an age of fascism.
