As a university student living in Hamilton, Ontario I seriously object to reducing Greenbelt protections. Already facing the prospect of long commutes to work degrading the quality of life for my generation, and the precipitous loss of what little wildlife remains in southern Ontario compared to my home further north, the last thing I want for myself and future generations is continued investment in a suburban sprawl model that doesn't work. In a changing economy, changing society, and changing planet, we need to find ways to make more efficient use of the land and resources we have, and not continue to with the status quo development approach that comes at the expense of our environment and our own lifestyles.
