This act is blatantly corrupt, and sacrifices any rules/regulations so you can sell land to your favourite developers fast with zero due process. You mention ‘simplifying rules’ with such nonchalance— rules are there for a reason. Expecting the corporations you’re planning to involve to regulate themselves is incredibly short-sighted, and shows you know nothing about how they only look out for their own profit. Red tape can be an issue, sure, but let’s not act like you’re doing this out of any service to the public. You’re proposing this so you can line your pockets even more with Ontario’s natural resources, at the expense of Indigenous rights and the environment (do these ‘record-breaking heatwaves’ just seem like a silly coincidence to you?). I’m firmly against this act, and trying to pretty it up with words like ‘strategic importance’ and ‘long term prosperity’ doesn’t help to hide any of your true intentions.
