As a father and grandfather, I’m writing to express my deep concern about the proposal to revoke the environmental assessment for the property near our community. I raised my kids fishing on the Sydenham River, and now I take my grandkids out on the boat to do the same. This river is part of our family’s story—it’s where we bond, where we learn about nature, and where we see firsthand the incredible biodiversity that still exists here.
We regularly see endangered species and a wide variety of fish and birds along the Sydenham. This is a fragile ecosystem that cannot be taken for granted. Removing the requirement for an environmental assessment puts all of that at risk.
Our community is responsible—we take care of our own waste, and we’ve done our part to protect the land and water. We don’t deserve to lose our local ecosystems to outdated permits and corporate interests that want to bring in waste from the GTA. The government has a responsibility to protect rural Ontario, not just for today, but for the generations to come.
Please do not revoke the environmental assessment. Our community, our children, our wildlife, and our future depend on it.
Sincerely,
A concerned Papa
