For SCHEDULE 10: Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, there is an immense issue with loosening development laws for the Ontario Green Belt. Allowing municipalities to apply to the province for permission to pass what the bill calls “open-for-business” bylaws, thus meaning they are to be exempt from a list of laws, including sections of the Clean Water Act, the Great Lakes Protection Act, the Lake Simcoe Protection Act and the Greenbelt Act - this is a major threat to Ontario's green belt. When will this governments quest for "fiscal savings" with the risk of environmental degridation end?
