In the early 2000's, a rustic network of trails were marked on the land in question. Given the Canadian Shield terrain of the area, the trails are flagged routes to help prevent people from getting lost, and providing comfort to people who want to venture into the wilderness without having to worry about navigation. These trails have since been used by the Winnetka and Engineer Lake community for hiking, berry picking, mountain biking, and importantly, nature play by two generations of youth in the community. The trails also connected the cabins of the close-knit families in the area. The intention of these trails was community connection and it would be disappointing if the proposed division prevented community use.
