Plastic waste producers must adhere to the 2021 plan to reduce the amount of plastic waste contaminating our environment.

· there must be more, not less, management of "flexible" plastic packaging (like food wrap, pouches and bags). The goal must be that manufacturers continue efforts to recycle with the recovery target of 25% and continue to work at alternatives to plastic packaging.
· recycling must be extended to schools, multi-unit residential buildings, long-term care and retirement homes. Plastic packaging manufacturers committed to pay for this in 2021: now is the right time.
· beverage producers need to be responsible for picking up beverage containers consumed "away from home" e.g. from parks and mall bins. Producers knew, back in 2021, they would have to do this starting January 1, 2026.
