I would like to support the development of Jamesville in the city of Hamilton. I believe that CN is acting in bad faith in their opposition to this development. If they have concerns that their rail yard is creating too much noise or smells for the environment in which people live., They have an opportunity to mitigate their own pollution by changing their operating procedures. For example, they could use electric shunting vehicles that would reduce both the noise and the pollution in the surrounding area, which would benefit the entire community of Hamilton.
The only other comment I would make about the proposed development in Jamesville that has been put forward by the city and their development partner, is that the proposed 20 story tower be reduced to somewhere between eight and 12 stories which would be more in line with the surrounding community. There are no 20 story buildings in the vicinity, And the nearest new development is a 12 story building two or three blocks to the south.
