I am deeply disturbed by Mr Ford's proposal to sell part of Wasaga Provincial Park for development.

On principal I believe that parks should never be sold - they are an inheritance for future generations and offer the calm and support those generations will need to deal with the overcrowded, stressful places we all live and work in. There is enough development on private land!

But beyond this concern, I am worried about the Piping Plovers. They are just beginning to thrive after careful attention to their plight, starting in 2007, allowed them to return. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park contains critical nesting habitat for these birds which will be lost if development is permitted.

Finally, I continue to be disturbed by Mr Ford's continued assault on our green spaces to permit his friends - developers - to achieve their aims. The decimation of the Endangered Species Act, then Bill 5 and his majority in government allow him to proceed in his chosen directions while ignoring other Ontarians who hold opposite views. This is NOT democracy!
