I write to express strong opposition to the proposed changes at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
Wasaga Beach Provincial Park must not be divided up and parts sold off to private interests. This will NOT accomplish an increase in tourism to the Wasaga Beach area, in fact it will do the opposite. Nor will it increase economic prosperity in the area. Only a few developers and wealthy individuals will benefit.
Wasaga Beach is a much-loved tourist destination and amenity for the recreation of local people. It is also home to the endangered Piping Plover and other threatened species. Parks like these provide physical and mental recreation for Ontarians and need to be kept protected and available for everyone to enjoy.
The Ontario government also needs to start protecting more, not less, natural lands for the health of current and future communities.
To conclude, I strongly oppose the proposed changes at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
