I'm writing because I'm extremely concerned about Bill 5, and the recent proposal regarding Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Provincial parks were established in good faith to protect natural areas for the good of animals and plants indigenous to the land and the enjoyment of all Ontarians.
There are vulnerable species that exist only because these lands have been protected, such as the Piping Plover.
The Parks benefit humans too, as a place recreation and nature observation. They're an integral part of the lives of millions of Ontarians. They are NOT for sale - absolutely NOT. No one has the right to sell off our protected land for developers and for the profit of a few wealthy people.
As someone who was born and raised in Ontario, payed taxes for decades and has enjoyed our parks my whole life, I absolutely do NOT give permission to the government to touch our parks.
If this proposal goes through at Wasaga or any other Provincial Park, expect huge backlash in many forms including at the next election. As someone who generally votes Conservative, this will not be forgotten nor forgiven.
Please give very careful thought and do the right thing for the love of all Ontarians and our beautiful land.
