I strongly oppose the proposal to transfer beach areas from Ontario Parks to the Town of Wasaga. For many years, Beach 1 has been home to nesting Piping Plovers and Ontario Parks has been excellent at coordinating the protection of this species. There are only a few pairs nesting in all of Ontario and the Wasaga birds have been the most successful in raising young. I go to Wasaga every year to see these plovers and that is the only reason I would ever go there. I know these birds are important to many other people across the province as well, and many people makes special trips there to see them. Please leave control of the beach from Spruce St to the Nottawasaga River in the control of Ontario Parks so that this natural wonder remains protected.
