Really? These proposed changes are ludicrous. I spent my career protecting Crown resources and, I'll tell you, municipalities are among the worst offenders. In fairness, this applies not to ALL municipalities, but to the vast majority of them, especially to the smaller municipalities such as we have in the Wasaga Beach proposal. These resources belong to all the people of Ontario, not just to the "taxpayers" of Wasaga. These areas should be preserved for those who own them and not "sold off" in the interest of political expediency. In the absence of specific controlling language in legislation or in regulation, I have no confidence that this is a "one off", either. To whomever hoping for the potential votes that this proposal is designed to shake loose, well, I say, "Too bad. These lands are ours and are not for your political games."
