Do Not Destroy Our Parks.
Provincial parks are protected for a reason, reasons that the Ontario government SHOULD be aware of. They serve as habitats for endangered species, but as we've seen with Bill 5, the current provincial government appears to care not at all for protecting Canada's wildlife. Moving to change the laws that protect them are a blatant cash-grab at the cost of Ontario's protected green spaces which will no doubt result in the loss of more protected land, further destroying our environment for the sake of unnecessary industrial development. Passing this amendment would mean destroying over 600 acres of land in Wasaga Provincial Park. Beyond the ecological impact, our parks are tourist attractions BECAUSE they are protected green spaces. Destroying heritage sites to build something shiny and plastic in their place is not going to boost the economy.
This does not serve Ontario's people or Ontario's land. It serves a greedy premier looking to line his pockets and the pockets of his friends inside development companies at the expense of a province he's meant to be protecting.
What Doug Ford is proposing is abhorrent and this needs to be repealed now.
