Removing over half of Wasaga's beachfront is not only highly illogical and irresponsible; it is pure recklessness. The entire reason this is such a huge tourist destination is because of the beautiful beaches. The Ford Government is proposing to destroy the beach for housing? Where is the thought behind this proposal? There is no consideration for the people of Wasaga, the ecological impact this would have, nor the historical meaning. Of course, I'd be remiss not to mention the impact this will have on tourist dollars, since we all know that Doug Ford only cares about one thing: money.
What will it be; keep the beach and invest into green energy solutions, eco-tourism and preserving endangered habitat? Or destroy the beach to build housing that no one will want to live in? Who's going to want to live beside one of the busiest beaches, risking water and ice damage, and having the entire town of Wasaga hate them?
There will be protests. You will not take our beach.
