This plan threatens to destroy ecologically sensitive areas, including Beach Areas 1 and 2, New Wasaga Beach, and Allenwood Beach—home to endangered species like the piping plover, mature sand dunes, and provincially significant wetlands.

Rather than selling off this irreplaceable natural space, I urge the government to invest in the park itself to enhance its value for residents, visitors, and wildlife. Improvements such as:

Additional washrooms and shower facilities
Day-use cooking and picnic areas
Expanded campground options
Designated vanlife and RV parking areas
Accessible trails and nature education programs
…would support sustainable tourism, create jobs, and preserve the park’s ecological integrity.

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is the second most-visited provincial park in Ontario and home to the longest freshwater beach in the world. Its value lies in its natural beauty and biodiversity—not in its potential for commercial exploitation.

I also oppose the proposed changes to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, which would weaken protections and allow development without proper public consultation. These changes set a dangerous precedent for all provincial parks in Ontario.

Let’s protect Wasaga Beach for future generations. Invest in its preservation and enhancement—not its destruction.
