Wasaga Beach is a beautiful, popular destination because of its large shoreline and the option for visitors to choose which beach they prefer to visit (busier ones, family friendly ones, etc.). Losing so much of the land will destroy the experience, and will just lead to it being another overly crowded place to fight for a place to swim.
