I strongly oppose the proposed removal of Beach Areas 1, 2, New Wasaga, Allenwood, from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Stripping these lands of protection under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act (PPCRA) in order to sell or transfer them for tourism development is a dangerous precedent that undermines the integrity of Ontario’s entire parks system. This is not revitalization! It is deregulation and privatization of public land. In the name of democracy and equity to all, public land must remain public! These beach areas are ecologically sensitive, culturally important, and belong to the people of Ontario, not developers who will repackage and resell them to Ontarians at a price - when it was free to access before. Transferring them to municipal or commercial control for short-term economic gain is an irreversible loss and a severe betrayal of public trust.
