We are deeply opposed to removing any and all provincial park areas for the use of housing and/or tourism development at Wasaga Beach. The area on Wasaga Beach is the most important breeding ground for the Piping Plover and is a massively important, ecologically sensitive area hosting these birds for reproduction. Every species at risk alongside those which are not, deserve to be protected in order to remain safe and part of the overall ecological puzzle which sustains life on this planet. We have a responsibility not only to the species at risk, but also to all humans whose intricate lives are wrapped up in this huge ecological puzzle called the planet.
Provincial Parks were put into place for all citizens to enjoy. It belongs to the public. Not for just a few, who can afford to privately own or rent tourist homes. This idea is abominable and appalling. Using 60% of the beach area for private homes is a waste and a dire misuse of public lands which were set aside for the people of Ontario and to protect all species in their jurisdiction.
I reiterate, that my family and I are deeply opposed to the development of Wasaga Beach. Please do not continue to push species to extinction in such an irresponsible move.
